WE BOTH LOSE
You slammed the door in my face, how do we get to this place?
Every time, you always close your mind
But in your code of silence, the truth is you’re denying
Everything that doesn’t fall in line
You believe in something, even you don’t understand
I know, I know the tradition is
To follow, follow wherever you lead
I let go you should know that I’m disappointed like you
So we both lose
You sheltered me my whole life, made me look through your eyes
I was blind, to the things that you were blind to
I danced with indecision, cleared my blurry vision
I don’t blame you, but I wanted to remind you
I believe in something, that you’ll never understand
I know, I know the tradition is
To follow, follow wherever you lead
I let go you should know that I’m disappointed like you
So we both lose
Thought you walked on water
They were only puddles in the sand...in the sand

MeatLoaf

Stephen Trask was asked by MeatLoaf to change the lyrics of “Tear me Down” to fit his life a little bit more. Stephen Trask used MeatLoaf’s autobiography to re-write the song.

Tear Me Down
Stephen Trask Modified lyrics for MeatLoaf

Listen.
I was born on the other side.
Just always looking at you.
I made it over the great divide. Now I'm coming for you.
Your Forces lined up in battle.
Your soldiers and your machines.
The sun been blacked out by shadows.
The darkest hour now you've ever seen.

And I'm easy and I'm serious.
They try and tear me down.
You want me baby I dare you.
Try and tear me down.
I rose up on the doctor's slab like Lazarus from the pit.
And everyone wants to take a stab.
Decorate me with blood, graffiti and spit.

I've been held up on money.
I've been beaten out of spite.
You want a peace of me honey?
Lose or win.
You know you've been in a fight!

And Im easy and Im serious.
They try and tear me down.
You want me baby I dare you.
Try and tear me down.

On March 6th, 1836 the walls of the Alamo fell to the Mexican army.
After a 12-day siege, the troops of Santa Ana were victorious but too exhausted to hold on and the Texans won the war.
Its further from El Paso to Texarkana , than from New York to Chicago .
And when it joined the Union, Texas was the biggest state.
Yeah, everything from Texas is big, larger than life and none bigger than little Marvin Aday.
So big his daddy called him Meat Loaf.
He grew into a big man, with a big voice.
And he sings big songs and has big hits.

You can try and tear him down.
Now there aint much difference between a bridge and a wall.
Without me right in the middle baby.
You'll be nothing at all.

And I'm easy and I'm serious.
They try and tear me down.
You want me baby I dare you.
Try and tear me down.

Who is Cheater and what happened to the them?

Cheater was the band that was fronted by Stephen Trask. The band played with John Cameron Mitchell in the early Hedwig days and in the original cast. Cheater also included David McKinley (drums), Chris Weilding (guitar) and Jack Slack (bass).

They were the house band for Don Hill's night Squeeze Box. They became known as The Angry Inch in the play. Jack was replaced with Scott Bilbrey on Bass for the show. Past members of Cheater have since moved on. Chris is in a band called Grummer. Scott & Dave were in the band Tin Shade. All members of Cheater performed with Hedwig up till the Spring of 1999.

Chris was the only member of the band that was there from the beginning of the show till it's closing day. Many great musicians filled in the roles of the band on stage. Michael Cerveris (NY Hedwig) and Jeremy Chatzky (NY Jacek/bass) are in a band called Retriever. Stephen Trask has been working with Donovan Leitch and Nancy Boy on their next project. Close to the end of the NY run the current members of The Angry Inch in 2000 played gigs at Manitoba's as The Inch Worms with guest vocals by Asa Somers (NY Hedwig understudy).

Cheater does not have a CD for sale. There are a few bands that have the same name, so please do not order them in hopes that it's the NY Cheater. There was a two song 45 vinyl record realease in 1994 song titles: the hours (dry side) & times b/w sticky (wet side).

Cheater released one single- The Hours & Times b/w Sticky in 1994.

There was a cassette only release called "Glamour And Immense" in 1995 that was sold at shows.

The only other thing was a promo-only cd of a January 97 show at CBGB's that caught the band one month before rehearsals began for the production at the Westbeth.

They opened with Wig In A Box. It also included the ELECTRIC version of The Long Grift(with the amazing coda) and Nailed. The set also included Jeanie Jade(written and sung by Chris Weilding), The Hours And Times, Swelter, Man On A Mission, and All Brains And Brawn. The show ended with Caterpiller, which along with Hologram and Do The Dutch are some of the best things Stephen has written that no one knows about except the few die-hard fans that remain.
